VIDEOS ADDED TO PORT SITE
A series of video clips offering advice on interdisciplinarity, the viva and job interviews
have now gone live on the PORT site. The clips feature both senior academics and early-career
researchers reflecting on these topics and offering guidance on such issues as: Preparing
for your viva, Applying for jobs in the USA and Interview Dos and Don'ts.

This site has been built for academic researchers in the various disciplines that comprise the study of Romance and Germanic languages and cultures, offering online research training and resources in French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian studies. It will be of particular use to Masters and PhD students, and to those running postgraduate training programmes. How to use this site?
No matter where you are on this site, the top menu bar of this page will
be identical on all the other pages and allow you to navigate to wherever
you want to go.
- Tutorials: If you want to access our skills tutorials, simply click on 'tutorials' listed in the top menu bar of this page.
- Languages: To explore our language resources, hover on ‘languages’ from the top menu bar, and choose from the drop down menu.
- About port: To find out more about port, scroll over the house icon in the far right corner of the top menu bar, which will activate the link to our 'about page'.
- Search: To search specific terms and topics, activate our 'search page' by scrolling over the eye icon in the far right corner of the top menu bar.
- Contact: If you want to contact us, scroll over the hand icon, which will activate the contact page.
- Welcome page: To return to this welcome page, scroll over the port logo in the far left corner of the top menu bar.
Disclaimer
port only intends to provide general guidelines with regard to research
methodologies in Romance and Germanic studies. It does not provide a legalistic
framework setting out the rules for Masters or PhD programmes. To find
out more about the specific codes of conduct, examination rules, etc,
of your postgraduate programme, please refer to the relevant handbooks
of your particular University.
Printing advice
If you wish to make print-outs from this website, go to 'File' menu, choose
'Page Setup', and select 'Landscape' rather than 'Portrait' within 'Page
Setup'. This will allow you to fit the whole width of the PORT web-pages
